VBS staff barbeque tonight.. *is tired* I was kinda annoyed because none of my friends came. So I had five options: adults talking about their kids and other people, other group of adults talking about their kids and random things, little kids, myself, two teenage girls with whom I'm... not exactly friends.
*groan*
But I survived. As you can probably see.
And darn, those kids are cute.
I ended up pushing Noelle and Noah - no, not related, although their names are alike and they could be twins by looks - on the kiddie swing, in the midst of staff end-of-week-did-you-enjoy-it-and-did-the-kids-learn-anything-and-what-about-next-year meeting and barbeque. Conversation:
Noelle's mom: 'Could you push Noelle on the swing?'
Me: 'Sure!'
Noelle's mom: 'Noelle, show Emily where the swing is!'
Two-year-old Noelle leads Emily to swing. Emily lifts Noelle onto swing, secures, and begins to push Noelle: 'Higher!'
Noelle: 'Mommy!'
Noelle: *not entirely legible*
Noelle: Mommy!
Mommy comes and shows Emily how to stand on the ledge and push from the front because Noelle likes to go high...
Noelle: Whee!
Noelle: Done!
Noelle is unfastened, lifted out, and brought back to the lawn. Noelle points to Noah.
Noelle: Noah's turn!
Emily: Does Noah want to swing?
Noelle: Noah's turn!
Emily: Well, Emily's going to sit down...
Noelle: Noah's turn!
Emily: Noah, do you want to swing?
Noah nods and a big grin shows up
Emily: Well, all right.
Emily takes Noah to swing, lifts him up, fastens swing, and begins to push
Noah: *biggrin*
Very soon...
Noelle: My turn!
Emily: Well, let's give Noah some time first, and then you can go
Noelle is sad. Emily tries to ignore two-year-old's sadness and continues to push Noah high. Noelle continues to say 'my turn!' and eventually Emily gives Noelle turn, making Noah have sad look. Then Noah has another turn, Noelle insists that it is her turn again, and Emily explains that everyone gets two rides and then we will stop. Noah finishes turn. Emily sits down on grass near other people. Noelle runs to mommy. Very soon Emily is asked again to push children. Emily pushes Noah on swing. Noelle toddles up.
Noelle: My turn!
Emily: Go get some ice cream, Noelle!
Noelle leaves to get ice cream happily. Emily pushes Noah some more. Emily wants ice cream and stops the swing to ask Noah if he wants ice cream. Noah says no, Emily takes him to get ice cream anyways. Because all kids like ice cream. Noah and Noelle are happy. End of story.
*cough* yeah, it's late and I felt like sharing Noelle's cuteness to the world.
*is big pushover*
