We're home!

Finally. I love being at Nana and Papa's, but it's nice to be home. We were supposed to leave early yesterday morning, but on Thursday the surburban broke down, and we didn't get it back until noon the next day, although that was pretty good. We stayed in Kamloops overnight with a friend of my nana's, and got home at 3:30 today.

So yes.

Christmas!

I gave Josh a Jeremy Camp cd that was unfortunately scratched but still works pretty well, for my sisters Playmobil, for my mom scrapbooking ribbon, for my dad a Starbucks gift certificate and a little bear that says '#1 Dad', and I think that's pretty much it.

I got a big 150-piece art set in a pretty box that's very very full and nice of paintbrushes and paint and pencils and perfect, the soundtrack for the Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl that not only looks fantastic but is, a nice hardcover copy of Pride and Prejudice, pretty black hair clips, a paper trimmer, the Narnia special extended edition DVDs, $20 from my grandma, $30 from a lady in our church, earrings- they disappeared; I really hope the cat didn't take them while we were there or something, I can't remember if I put them away-, a pretty scarf and shirt, and tons of other stuff that I can't remember.

On Tuesday we went into Duncan, and I bought 2 shirts, a fleece, and 3 pairs of socks with my $50 from Grandma and the lady in our church at Reitmans, then at Wal-Mart I found the PotC: CotBP DVD and a hair straightener, both nicely cheap. I used the straightener on Wednesday and it works really well.

The cat is really hyper now that we're home. She keeps trying to get out and mews and will jump up and cuddle, but only for a couple minutes and then she's off again.

It's Christmas!

Almost.
But Christmas is coming soon!

We're going to Vancouver Island to visit my nana and papa over Christmas. We're leaving tomorrow... an absolutely fantastic interesting fun drive of 15 hours, starting very early and reaching our destination very late. I still need to pack.

Last night we went to supper at my grandma's, and my sisters and I played for some of the seniors in her apartment building. My violin A string was out of tune, it was horrible. Oh well. We got presents. :D

Mom and I also went to the library, and I managed to find six books, all nice big thick fantasy ones except for Emily's Quest, and it's still by one of my favourite authors. I like books.

I have all my presents bought and wrapped now, which is good. We're bringing them along in the surburban; it'll be pretty packed.

Fun fun fun

9 days till Christmas!!!!!

I finally found out how to do titles instead of just doing them in bold. It was a settings issue. And I showed my dad how to too.

We went to the city yesterday, and did lots of shopping- erm, I still don't have anything for my parents or brother; guys, would you like gift cards?-, and I got an amazing twirly pretty black skirt and reddishpinkishblackishflowered blouse (much nicer than I described it) at Reitmans, as well as two pairs of earrings (I only wore one at a time...) for the banquet. Oh yes, the banquet. It was the youth banquet for Sil's youth group, and Josh and I were invited as friends. There was a speaker and a white elephant gift exchange, which was really fun, even if I had a rather pathetic gift to bring. But the good ones made up for one or two not-so-great ones. I use too much of my stuff to find something suitable. I got a BarlowGirl CD and a copy of Pride and Prejudice- unfortunately an abridged one, it's not very well re-written (yes, almost completely re-written- nasty!) at all, but I like the CD and the guy who originally got them didn't look very happy so I stole it. :D
Oh, and there were draws, and I won one- two tickets to any attraction in West Edmonton Mall, including the Waterpark and GalaxyLand. I'm excited, especially since we did have the waterpark on the schedule for a youth trip but it never happened. Yay. It was funny, I was talking to someone when they did the draw and people were practically yelling at me to get it.

We had quizzing practice tonight because of the play tomorrow, which went well, even though there's still one verse from chapter 10 that I don't have memorized, but we have a long break and I can practice everything then. There's one pad that never seems to work for me, it's really annoying, and I know it's not just me not jumping fast because we did another quiz, I switched seats, and it was great. I don't like that spot. Maybe it's the angle.

Did I mention our tree is up? Well it is, and it looks really nice. We got it from Extra Foods (thankfully not fake), but it's really a nicer one than we usually get out in the country. Nice and full.
... I need a synonym for 'nice'.

If I don't post till after Christmas, merry Christmas to the two or three readers of my blog, have fun, and... merry Christmas!

I'm not nerdy

Arggh, the picture's all pixely.
And no, I don't despise nerds. I happen to know some very nice nerds.

Squeaker

I don't believe I've done a cat post yet. Oops. We got a kitten from friends nearly three weeks ago. Her name is now Merry (like... a hobbit! Meriadoc Brandybuck!), although it's been switched from Sylvestor (before we found she was female), Princess Arjumand (a cat in a book - To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis - who looked exactly like her), Pippin (for maybe a day, because I have heard of many other cats named Pippin) and finally Merry. I personally think Squeak would also be a good name- she doesn't meow, she just makes little squeaky toy noises in a variety of pitches and volumes. It must be from spending the first bit of her life outside, with lots of wild birds around. She's very cute, and spent nearly an hour on my lap this afternoon, part of it sitting almost upright, on her back, with her back legs sticking out in front of here, and still comfortable. Unfortunately no picture of that.
I went to Awana last night. I used to go every week, and quit this year because of quizzing and the new program they had. But tonight my friend wanted me to come with her, so I went. It was okay. Not as fun as I remember it being. But oh well.
My violin A string broke on Monday. The replacement came in the mail yesterday, which is really nice, because I rather miss my violin. Unfortunately the D and E strings are feeling really out of tune and old and bendy and ready-to-break. That's the one thing that annoys me about violins- they're pretty easy to wreck. Not that I purposely wreck strings.
Please pray for a family in our community- their 12-year-old son was killed in a car accident on Saturday, and the funeral was today. They're probably feeling very sad and very guilty- he was the only one hurt- right now.
We're having pizza for supper. It smells very good.

Christmas!
Okay, we still have 23 days. I'm actually rather happy for that, I need to shop. I like shopping, even though Christmas presents are harder. But I have family (hopefully...) who read this blog, so I can't speculate on what to get for people. Darn.
Thursday we went skiing, and I got to go about a hundred feet before my ski broke, the little thing that your boot clicks to fell off. So either we need to screw it back in or I'm getting new skis, which means new boots, which means lots of money. We'll screw it back in.
There was also a bowling party for the Leader carriers on Thursday, and I went. It was okay, I found out how bad I really am at bowling. :P
Yesterday was violin, so Mom and I went back to the city, my dad picked me up halfway back because my mom wfent to a scrapbook retreat until tomorrow afternoon. For youth everyone decorated the church for the adult banquet tonight, so it looks quite nice and Christmassy.
Right now I'm babysitting the girls, as Josh is babysitting for people who went to the banquet and Dad is there. At the banquet.
